Harbor Espresso Martini

Harbor Espresso

Kingston awakens to a rhythm all its own. As the sun rises over the harbor, the city stirs to life with the aroma of strong Jamaican coffee brewing in countless kitchens and street-side cafés. This morning ritual fuels the island’s energy—a bold awakening that prepares you for whatever the day brings. Yet as evening falls, that same harbor transforms into something entirely different: a place of reflection, sophistication, and warmth.

The Harbor Espresso bridges these two worlds. It’s a cocktail that delivers the awakening jolt of espresso with the smooth, contemplative depth of Funk Harbor Dark Rum. Kahlúa and crème de cacao add layers of coffee liqueur richness and chocolate sweetness, creating a sophisticated blend that’s equally at home as an after-dinner indulgence or a late-night pick-me-up. Cold brew espresso provides clean, intense coffee flavor without bitterness, allowing the rum’s complex character to shine through.

This is a drink for those who appreciate contrasts—the energy and the ease, the morning and the night, the bold and the refined. It’s proof that some of the best moments happen when opposites come together in perfect harmony.

Pro Tip

The quality of your cold brew espresso makes a significant difference in this cocktail. If you don’t have access to cold brew, you can make your own by steeping coarsely ground espresso or dark roast coffee in cold water for 12-24 hours, then straining. This creates a smooth, less acidic coffee concentrate that integrates beautifully with the other ingredients. For an even more luxurious experience, chill your martini glass in the freezer for at least 15 minutes before serving. The three-coffee-bean garnish is a traditional espresso martini touch that adds visual elegance and aromatic appeal—the oils from the beans release subtle coffee aromatics with each sip.
